Fun, Fall, Freedom

It's a crisp November morning, and you're putting on your superhero cape (also known as your "multitasking parenting skills"). The mission? To conquer the 58th Annual Veterans Day Parade in Auburn with your trusty sidekicks – those energetic kids. Don't worry; by the time the day is done, you'll have plenty of peace and quiet this evening to enjoy some wine and watch holiday Hallmark movies. As you gear up for an epic day of celebration, remember it's all about creating awesome memories, honoring our veterans, savoring fantastic food, and perhaps even finding some cool shopping treasures along the way. In other words, fun, fall, and freedom.

No matter your parade viewing strategy, you better get there early because this event gets busy fast! With over 6,000 parade participants, 200 displays, and 25 marching bands, military vehicles, veterans' units, and honor guards, you'll want to secure your best spot early to see it all. There's just a special feeling when you witness the incredible men and women who defended our nation's freedom walking in this parade. It will truly bring out the little kid in you as you wave your flag and cheer for these incredible heroes.

Don't forget to also check out all the amazing displays at the Veterans Memorial Park or the Marching Band competitions at Memorial Stadium. You'll feel a deep sense of patriotism and gratitude as you witness the flame being lit, wreath placement, rifle salute, prayers, performances, and taps. Whether you've served in the military or have family members who have served, this day offers a heartwarming experience like no other and will become an annual tradition for you. You can find the entire Veterans Day Parade itinerary here.

After all this fun, your tummy will be grumbling louder than the parade drumroll, so head to one of Auburn's fantastic eateries. The town offers a wide variety of dining options, from cozy cafes to family-friendly locally owned restaurants. Cow and Cod, Gor Gai, and Starting Gate are all great places where everyone can find something they love. It's perfectly fine to sneak a few bites from everyone's plates because those calories don't count.

With a full stomach, it's time to work on filling your trunk with shopping bags. Auburn boasts many charming boutiques and shops that line Main Street, are located in Lakeland Hills, and can be found at the Outlet Shopping Collection. You can discover unique gift ideas at BOXLUNCH, fun games and comics for the kids at Hills Of Comics, and some amazing jewelry just in time for the holidays at Fiori. It's a win-win situation when your group of all ages gets to enjoy some shopping. I mean, every day should be an "Add To Cart" kind of day.

As the day in Auburn comes to a close, you can't help but reflect on how much fun it was. From the heartfelt tribute to our veterans at the parade to the shopping, delicious dining, and outdoor fun, Auburn has it all. It's a perfect blend of experiences. Don't miss out on the magic of the Veterans Day Parade – come visit, create memories, and cherish the experience with your loved ones. Auburn is waiting to help you have fun this fall, while celebrating freedom.
