Autumn Leaves, Auburn Please

October, to say the least, is a month we all fall for. How can you not love foggy mornings with crisp air, golden colored trees, and getting out to explore in your gamboge sweater, sipping on a pumpkin spice latte. Fall-elujah. How awesome it is to live in a world that has Octobers. It’s like the month that makes you forget you didn’t totally get your summer body and that’s ok. With fall in the air now, we’re all looking for awesome PNW adventures that are fun, affordable, and worth it. Who’s ready for that weekend?!

Nothing says, “fall” like Auburn and this is where all the excitement takes place. Pack your overnight bag, grab your friend, jump into your car, and hit the road. Love road trips but hate driving, the fact that Auburn is still so close to everything like Seattle and Tacoma makes it way more appealing.

When you get into town you are welcomed by the sights of Mt. Rainer, beautiful lowland hills with changing colors, and the fabulous - Auburn Holiday Inn Express & Suites. Don’t sleep on this hotel, it is awesome! Newly built, friendly staff, breakfast, comfy beds, and even charge stations for your car in the parking lot.

Check in, and drop off your bags, because it’s time to grab dinner and then get to all the adventures. Auburn has so many fun, fall-themed eateries. Stop at Oddfellas and get the delicious Oddtober Pie and Irish Nachos with some amazing craft pumpkin beers. Really so good! Odd name but great food. Once dinner is finished, just five minutes away is Muckleshoot Casino. You know it’s party time! With their all-new entertainment venue, you can take in a top of the line concert before testing your luck on the slot machines. This casino truly is the biggest and best in the northwest.

As the night winds down a bit, if you’re ready for a more personal experience with smaller crowds, head down to the all new Imperial Palace Casino. Wow, you can lose track of time at their card tables. Is it midnight already? Time to go get some rest cause tomorrow is gonna be really special.

Sleep snug and toasty cause there’s more fun tomorrow. Falling asleep to the Harry Potter marathon might help too. Mornings in Auburn are so enchanting with the amber sunrise and delicious maple lattes from PNW Coffee Co. Stroll the the cozy downtown area and find some cool items at the Hills of Comics, A Little Knitty, and Main Street Thrift. The highlight of the morning though will be breakfast at Rainbow Cafe. Get the savory country skillet with seasonal vegetables, bacon, gravy and pumpkin pancakes. So yummy! If you spill on your sweater cause it was so good but don’t worry your scarf will cover it.

Who’s met a pumpkin they didn’t like, this fall weekend get away would not be complete without stopping at Mosby Farms. Don’t see how a pumpkin patch could be more sincere than this one. From the pumpkin patch to the corn maze, to the hay rides and photo booth. Swear this place will bring out the kid in you. Grab some candy corn, caramel apples and cider for the road. So when it is time to head home you got the fall snacks ready.

Thank you Auburn for having lovely fall weekends. Your stay will be golden to say the least. It may not be first on our list to try but after this adventure it for sure will be your first to recommend.  Fun, affordable, and worth it. When there’s autumn leaves, Auburn please.
