Artwork Statement:
“Slugs are often seen as slow-moving, small creatures, but slow and small can be powerful things. ‘Slug Party’ is a message about the magic of slowing down and celebrating the little things in life. These festive slugs want to remind people that gentle mindfulness and gratitude combined with unique expression can act as an antidote to the busy chaos of modern life, enhancing the lives and well-being of humans." -Bayu Angermeyer
Bayu Angermeyer is a neurodivergent artist who focuses on play: playing with words, ideas, and perspectives. Raised in the San Juan Islands, Bayu grew up exploring and admiring the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Often feeling like an outsider uncertain of how to fit into society, nature offered the solace and joy that fed her imagination. She continues to be charmed by nature’s creations, honoring the environment through her paintings and sculpture.
